Importance Of Proper Treatment For Liver Cancer

Liver cancer or medically known as Hepatic cancer originates in the liver. The main causes of liver cancer are excessive intake of alcohol, hepatitis- B and hepatitis C, etc. Liver is the largest organ of the body and is indispensable as it performs many necessary functions as manufacturing bile to help in digesting food, storing excess nutrients, manufacturing blood proteins to increase the immune system, reduces cholesterol, etc. In cirrhosis the healthy tissue of the liver is slowly and gradually replaced by worn tissue preventing liver to work properly. Liver is an inevitable organ and very useful one so the treatment of the liver cancer should be done timely.
Most of the treatments aim towards simplifying the complications.Liver cancer treatmentsare of utmost importance as death can occur in the early stages also. In Wilson's disease, which is a psychiatric problem arising due to copper accumulation is treated with medication to remove copper from the body, liver transplants are required very often. Some patients are given antibiotics to remove extra fluid from the body, they are diuretic, which can make the patients urinate more and they are also given drugs to reduce the pressure on the blood vessels. During liver transplant high doses of Hepatitis B immunoglobulin are given. Apart from that there is post transplantation therapy that prevents any type of infection entering the transplanted liver.
Radiotherapy is inevitable in the cancer disease, it gives report after making an overall assessment of the body and also helps in treatment from the beginning of the diagnosis. Liver Ultrasonography, CT scans, MRI are used to diagnose the exact location of cancer and the stage at which it has reached. Also chemotherapy, radiofrequency ablation is also applied to the patients on the basis of the weight of the tumor and the number of months or years it has been there in the organ. Radiotherapy is given in many varied forms, some of them are 3D conformal radiation therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy and respiratory gated radiation therapy. Due to these treatments the survival rates have been increased and patients are able to lead a normal life.
Liver cancer treatments should be handled properly and with extreme care as cirrhosis is the seventh most common cause of death. More intense treatment is required for patients who have higher stage liver cancer. There is a liver cancer centre where only liver cancer patients are treated with more attention and newest equipments. There they suggest some lifestyle changes such low sodium diet, some medicines, never to touch alcohol, exercise regularly, stop taking non-prescriptive medicines such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, crocin and aspirin without asking the concerned doctor. Such treatments are expensive, so choose a liver cancer treatment centre wisely.
